Singer Britney Spears has been given a year’s probation for drunk driving, CNN reports.
At a May 4 court hearing, Spears’ lawyers pleaded guilty on her behalf to “reckless driving” as part of a plea deal, which is standard procedure for those accused of drunk driving unless it causes an accident.
In addition to the suspended sentence, which in Spears’ case will not include mandatory meetings with a supervising officer, the singer must pay a fine and take mandatory driver’s license courses for those caught driving while intoxicated.
Spears was arrested for drunk driving on March 4 in California. In early April, the singer voluntarily went to a rehabilitation center.
