Merz promised to discuss with Fico his visit to Moscow on May 9. The Prime Minister of Slovakia was the only European Union representative who came to Russia.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico over his visit to Moscow on May 9.

“Robert Fico knows that we disagree on this issue,” Merz said during a conference in Stockholm. “I deeply regret that and we will discuss his trip to Moscow with him.”

Commenting on this, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Europe “is organizing itself into a concentration camp.” Zakharova added: “There will be no Europe Day without the victory of the Soviet people. There will be a continuous concentration camp with gas chambers.”

Robert Fico became the only representative of the European Union who visited Moscow in honor of the celebration of the 81st anniversary of Victory Day. He flew to Moscow on May 8 and laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, but did not participate in the parade itself in Red Square. Fico later met with Vladimir Putin. Even before the visit, some sources reported that Fico was going to convey to Putin a certain message from Vladimir Zelensky, but according to Russian President’s aide Yuri Ushakov, the Slovak Prime Minister did not ultimately convey any messages.

“The Russian people can bear anything” Putin thinks so. In his speech at the military parade on May 9, he continued to fight NATO. What he said – briefly
