Armenia’s possible exit from the Eurasian Economic Union could have serious economic consequences for the country. According to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the republic risks losing up to 15-20 percent of GDP.
Volodin noted that during the 10 years of membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia’s GDP grew by 2.5 times. He also noted that the country gained access to the common market and preferential terms for the supply of energy resources, including Russian gas.
The Speaker of the State Duma drew attention to the decrease in trade volume between Russia and Armenia. According to him, amid discussions about rapprochement with the European Union in 2025, the figure decreased by 45.4 percent, and some Russian businessmen began to leave the Armenian market.
