A powerful fire engulfed the building of the Irkutsk State Research Institute of Rare Metals and Natural Resources (Irgiredmet) in downtown Irkutsk. This was reported on Saturday, May 23 by the press service of the Regional Administration of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The fire spread to the roof of the building, and a column of black smoke rose above it, which could be seen from various parts of the city. The cause of the fire is currently being determined.
