Russian authorities banned the import of Jermuk mineral water from Armenia, after banning flowers

Rospotrebnadzor has banned the import and sale of mineral water from Armenia “Jermuk” in Russia.

“The water was found to contain an excess of bicarbonate, chloride and sulfate ions. Misrepresentation regarding the medicinal properties of the products can lead to ineffective treatment and deterioration of health,” Rospotrebnadzor said.

The ban takes effect immediately.

This is not the first time that Rospotrebnadzor has imposed restrictions on Jermuk’s waters. At the end of April, the department Forbidden Importing and selling produced water from October 23, 2025 to February 17, 2026. An excess of bicarbonate, chloride and sulfate ions in the water was detected.

For many years, Russia has regularly imposed a ban on the import of certain products from countries with which its relations have deteriorated. Moscow has disagreements with Yerevan due to the pro-Western course, in the opinion of the Russian authorities, of the government of Nikol Pashinyan.

On May 20, Rosselkhoznadzor imposed restrictions on the import of flowers from Armenia. This was explained by the need to “protect Russia’s phytosanitary well-being and export potential.”

Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7. Russia is openly demanding that Armenia allow businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who is now under house arrest, to attend the elections. Pro-Russian bots launched a campaign on social media against Pashinyan.

Recently, everyone has been discussing how Pashinyan tells Putin about democracy and social networks, which are “100% free.” In fact, it was a very important meeting The Riedel Russia Project explains why the Armenian Prime Minister is coming to Moscow and what Putin is asking of him
