Uralvagonzavod announced that it has renamed the Terminator tank support vehicle, giving it a new name – Spiridon.
“This is a rare but revered name in Russia. It was worn by truly strong-willed people,” the company said, citing the example of Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky and Hero of the Soviet Union Spyridon Spitsyn.
It was the same name as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s grandfather.
According to the Russia-1 channel, in total, the factory discussed about two thousand options, including “Dobrynya”, “Bogatyr”, “Dmitry Donskoy” and “Uralets”.
The tank combat support vehicle was created on the basis of the T-90 tank. It was adopted by the Russian Ground Forces in 2018.
