Actress and People’s Artist of the USSR Lyudmila Chorsina died at the age of 84, the press service of the Russian Army Theater reported. The place and time of Chursina’s farewell will be announced later. The actress has worked at the Soviet Army Theater (since 1993 – Russian Army Theater) since 1984.
Chursina played in dozens of films. Her most famous cinematic works include the films “The Don Tale,” “Gloomy River,” “Virineya,” “Crane,” “Shield and Sword,” and “Lubov Yarovaya.”
In 1968, she received the State Prize of the RSFSR for the films “Gloomy River”, “Virineya” and “Crane”. Her role in the film “Crane” was also awarded at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
In 2014, Chorsyna supported the annexation of Crimea, and in 2022, she supported the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces.
Chursina’s signature was on a letter directed against academician Andrei Sakharov entitled “An Alien to the People’s Position” published in the newspaper Pravda in 1973. However, she later insisted that she had been installed without her knowledge.
