The government ordered oil companies to supply the regions with additional fuel to “quickly meet local demand.”

The Russian government said in a statement that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak instructed oil companies to ensure additional supplies of fuel to the regions “in order to quickly meet local demand.”

The decision came during a meeting on the “situation of the fuel market.” The meeting was attended by a number of federal officials, heads of regions and industrial companies.

As mentioned earlier, special attention at the meeting was paid to “regional fuel markets” in the Irkutsk Region and the Trans-Baikal Territory.

The government’s message never directly mentioned that Russia was experiencing a fuel crisis, and in the Irkutsk region and the Trans-Baikal region the situation with fuel shortages remains one of the most difficult in the country.

The fuel crisis in Russia has worsened in recent months amid increasing Ukrainian drone strikes on oil facilities.
