The Duma adopted in the second and third readings a draft law tightening the rules for the stay of migrant workers in Russia.
The document amends the law “On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation”. Now foreigners working in Russia will be required to support themselves and their families at a level no lower than the subsistence level, multiplied by the regional coefficient.
If the foreign worker’s income is less, his work permit may not be renewed. In this case, he will have to leave the country within 15 days with his minor children.
In addition, the bill requires children of working foreigners who have reached the age of 18 to leave Russia within 30 days, unless they have other reasons to stay in the country or have not applied for their own patent.
