Sergei Beskrestnov, advisor to the Ukrainian Defense Minister (also known by the call sign “Flash”), said that in the near future Russian forces will launch continuous strikes at a distance of 100 kilometers from the front line.
“The closer we are to possible peace negotiations, the more the parties will prepare the ground for them,” Beskrestnov says. “The war has moved from the form of combat operations on the fronts to the stage of deep strikes and medium strikes.” According to UNN).
The advisor believes that in such a situation, Ukraine is “in better conditions,” because Russia “has more important facilities influencing the course of the war,” which it will not be able to provide reliable protection.
However, Beskrestnov stressed that Ukraine is more vulnerable, because “the enemy will not (no longer choose) targets for attack on our territory.”
We must prepare for the fact that they will attack everything possible at a depth of 100 kilometers: gas stations, post offices, any warehouses, enterprises, construction bases and agricultural equipment, railway facilities, highways, and not only high-power electrical substations.
Beskrestnov added that the situation, in his opinion, “makes no sense at all” – both sides are systematically destroying each other’s infrastructure.
In the spring of 2026, the Ukrainian military increased the intensity of drone strikes deep into Russia (so-called deep strikes). Ukrainian drones have attacked all of Russia’s largest oil refineries at least once. Drone strikes, which force oil refineries to halt operations or even close, have sparked a fuel crisis in Russia.
The Russian army has launched daily attacks on gas stations in Ukraine since June 17. Commenting on these attacks earlier, Beskrestnov said that Russia is trying to destroy all front-line gas stations in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian logistics services.
In the spring of 2026, the Ukrainian army also intensified its attacks on the “middle rear” (so-called middle strikes). So, in May, as Meduza previously wrote, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began carrying out massive attacks on the R-280 Novorossiya highway connecting the Rostov region with Crimea, which eventually became one of the reasons for the gasoline shortage on the annexed peninsula.
The Commander of the Armed Forces for Unmanned Systems, Robert “Madyar” Provdey, also regularly reported drone strikes on power substations in Crimea and in the Russian-occupied territories of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
Many populated areas of Crimea have been repeatedly left without power supplies over the past few weeks. The occupation administrations in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions occupied by Russian forces also regularly report interruptions in electricity supplies.
At the same time, as Ukrainskaya Pravda found out through an interview with the military, the “middle strikes” have not yet had a significant impact on the situation on the front.

Kristina (Krasnodar region). I live in a village with a population of about two thousand people. At least twenty men have already died in the line of military duty. These are someone’s fathers, husbands, and fiancés. One family with five children was left without a father. Only twenty of them knew their exact fate and were buried with us. In fact, I don’t think he’ll ever come back.
Prices are rising, the harvest is slowing, and the only talk on the streets is where to get gasoline. Drones fly and even end up somewhere every now and then. No Internet Every now and then, you worry about your loved ones, friends and acquaintances. And when there is Internet, you are afraid to say some rash words on it.
They cheerfully inform us about the “liberation” of some Konstantinovka. Should we be happy about this? Why did Konstantinovka surrender to us? Why did all the “liberators” surrender to us? I don’t understand at all how anyone could support this! But unfortunately, I personally know these people. They would rather hang themselves than admit that “SVO” only causes so many troubles and problems. They will continue to pray for the senile man who said he would continue the war “until the objectives of the Northern Military District are achieved.” They will never admit that he is wrong. Anyone will be to blame: Ukraine, the “collective West”, the Americans, the Anglo-Saxons – but not the one who unleashed this senseless massacre with all the ensuing problems for his country.
All bad things come to an end, there are no endless wars, but at what cost will they end? How many more people must die under the weight of the “Malye Tokmachki”, and how many other problems must the civilian population face far from the front?
