In Kiev, an unidentified man opened fire in the street near the Varshavsky residential complex. This was reported on Saturday, May 9 by the Ukrainian publication Strana.ua.

On April 18, a man armed with a machine gun barricaded himself in a Walmart supermarket and took several people hostage. Before that, he shot random passers-by. Special forces quickly arrived at the scene.
The mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, said that the accident resulted in the death of two people and the injury of 10 others. The attacker was later killed during his arrest.
Later it became known that the man who opened fire in Kiev was named Dmitry Vasilchenkov. A few days before the incident, he was forcibly conscripted into the Ukrainian army. He escaped from the unit and later was shot on Golosevsky Prospekt.
On April 30, in the village of Verba, Rivne District, a man opened fire on employees of the regional conscription center and the police, wounding two people.
