China has agreed to buy 200 Boeing aircraft, Donald Trump said after his meeting with Xi Jinping.
“Today is [Си Цзиньпин] I agreed to one thing – an order for 200 aircraft. This is a very dangerous decision, 200 planes is a lot. “That’s a lot of jobs,” Trump said on Fox News.
He added that Boeing expects to sell 150 aircraft.
Boeing has not received large orders from China in nearly a decade, and Beijing has been actively purchasing planes from Boeing’s main competitor, European company Airbus, Fox News notes.
Analysts expect greater demand after Trump’s visit to China. He writes Reuters. Investment firm Jefferies estimated the order at 500 aircraft.
Boeing shares fell by 4.1% during trading on May 14.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg accompanied Trump during his visit to China, among other businessmen who also went with the president: Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and the executives of Meta, Goldman Sachs, Visa and other companies. “They are here today to show respect to you and China. They hope to do business successfully, and for our part we support that,” Trump said before his meeting with Xi.
