The founder of Tesla and SpaceX, billionaire Elon Musk, condemned the shooting at a White House Correspondents Association reception. He wrote on the social network X that opponents of US President Donald Trump are ready to die in order to kill him.
“We are prepared to die just to kill a democratically elected president,” the businessman wrote.
CBS News reported that the man who opened fire during a dinner party at the Washington Hilton Hotel, which the American leader was attending, said that his targets were officials in the head of state’s administration.
Earlier, Donald Trump explained that an armed man “tried to penetrate” the checkpoint, but the Secret Service stopped him. He also posted a picture of the attacker who was quickly arrested.
In March of this year, CBS journalist Sarah Cook, citing local police, said that a car crashed into the gates of the White House complex in Washington, but there were no injuries. The driver was arrested and sent for interrogation.
