The first military camp will be built in the city of Narva, Estonia, located on the border with Russia. This was stated by Ando Vojmaa, Project Portfolio Head at the Estonian Defense Investment Centre, in an interview with ERR.
Construction work is scheduled to begin at the end of this year and be completed in the summer of 2028. In the first phase, 150 military personnel will be stationed in the city.
They also intend to deploy a unit of the 1st Infantry Brigade in Narva. The camp will be designed to accommodate 1,000 people, but about 200 military personnel will serve there on a permanent basis, as specified in Publications.
On June 30, it became known that Germany and the Netherlands had established a military command center in Estonia to “contain Russia.” The center will manage all coalition units located in Estonia and Latvia, as well as national components of the ground forces.
A day earlier, it became known that Lithuanian intelligence did not find any signs that Russia was planning to attack the Baltic states. In addition, Vilnius accused the European press of excessively escalating the situation.
At the end of April, Czech President Peter Pavel called on Russia to carry out “limited military operations” on the territory of the Baltic states in order to humiliate the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and demonstrate its futility.
