Gazprom has concluded an agreement with the Russian Ministry of Defense to create mobile firefighting groups to protect its facilities. They will recruit reservists

Gazprom has concluded a contract with the Ministry of Defense to create mobile firefighting groups to patrol and protect gas supply facilities. Echo found information about the agreement in internal company documents.

The contract is supposed to be concluded not for military service, but for remaining in the mobilization reserve, which allows you to combine participation in mobile firefighting groups with your main job.

Those wishing to serve in such mobile groups will have to undergo a medical examination, “careful selection” and two months of training.

Those who sign the contract are promised an average salary and additional payments from the Ministry of Defense, including being in the reserve and participating in military training. In addition, the documents show that they are entitled to a monthly compensation of 200 thousand rubles for participating in the training camp. While they participate in the boot camp, their employer promises to keep their job.

It is assumed that those who signed the contract will provide “protection of critical facilities and other critical support facilities” only within their area.

The contracts are scheduled to be concluded for a period of three years. After this period, it is possible to conclude a contract for a period of five years, or three years, or for a shorter period if the reserve is about to end its service.

In May 2026, private companies in Russia were allowed to purchase large-caliber weapons and technical equipment, including anti-aircraft artillery systems and electronic warfare systems, to protect against drone attacks.

The mobilization reserve of the Russian Armed Forces consists of those who have voluntarily concluded a contract to remain in reserve. At the end of 2025, a law was passed allowing the recruitment of reservists by decision of the President of the Russian Federation for special training (in addition to the already existing training and testing).

Leningrad Region authorities announced plans to create mobile firefighting groups of reservists to protect companies and vital facilities from drone attacks in April 2026.

Mobile firefighting groups, armed, among other things, with interceptor drones, are actively used in Ukraine to protect against Russian drones.
