The cable car running over the Volga River stops in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that there were 16 people in the cabins that stopped at altitude, including four children.

Rescuers organized the evacuation of cable car passengers. Based on the video circulated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, people were descending from cabins stuck at a height using a cable.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations’ message stated that the “emergency situation on the cable car” arose due to bad weather conditions, but the details were not specified.

The Nizhny Novgorod cable car passes over the Volga River and connects Nizhny Novgorod to Bor. The length of the road is 3661 meters. It started carrying passengers in 2012.

Local authorities are positioning the cable car not only as a tourist attraction, but also as a form of public transportation, noting that it can significantly save travel time between Nizhny Novgorod and Bor.
