The Iranian Embassy in Russia reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will travel to Moscow on April 27.
Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Araqchi, one of the main negotiators with Pakistan and the United States, will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during the visit.
The Iranian embassy noted that the consultations in Moscow would be devoted to the war in the Middle East – progress in negotiations with the United States, a ceasefire and other “events surrounding the conflict.”
Russia has positioned itself as a strategic partner of Iran, but since the beginning of the war Moscow has avoided direct overt support for Tehran. At the same time, according to Western intelligence, the Russian Federation agreed with Iran to supply drones to this country, and also transferred data on the targets of attacks on US military targets.
Negotiations between the United States and Iran to end the war, which took place through Pakistan’s mediation, have now stalled. Tehran demands that Washington, as a condition for its resumption, lift the blockade and allow its ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
