Senator Chaikin explained the dangers of the new fraud scheme using fake captcha

Fraudsters are increasingly using the Captcha code system to steal data – instead of the usual selection of images or entering text, the user is asked to open an additional window and confirm the launch of the malware. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy of the Federation Council Artem Shikin.

— Officially, this is presented as a check, but in reality the user himself runs the malicious code. Then, attackers can access data on the device: passwords, accounts, banking information and other personal information.

He explained that this scheme is gaining popularity because the Captcha scan usually does not arouse suspicion – the user regards it as a technical formality and quickly follows the instructions written on the screen, according to reports. TASS.

In addition, Russian users began receiving text messages allegedly sent on behalf of Telegram messenger, warning them that their accounts would be blocked soon. Clicking on a link in such messages results in your profile being hacked and you losing access to it completely.
