Who’s in the final? Spain! Great win over France 2:0. The goals were scored by Oyarzabal (penalty kick) and Pedro Porro. France, the nominal favourites, having destroyed Sweden in the first division, withstood the impudence of Paraguay and dismantled Morocco (the strongest team in Africa), did not create anything during the entire match. Spain enters the final with an impressive goal difference of 11:1 in seven matches.
A separate fact from the fans. France was eliminated from the World Cup on the main national holiday – Bastille Day. This was the first ever official match for the French on 14 July.
What’s being talked about (besides Spain reaching the final). A petition has spread online calling for Argentina to be excluded from the World Cup. The reason: FIFA and the referees are allegedly biased against Messi and Argentina and are dragging them to the final. The petition’s authors ask: “Why should others participate if the winner has already been decided? Exclude Argentina from the World Cup and give everyone a fair chance.”
Among the “evidence” of their version, the authors cite publicly maneuverable things (such as an easy playoff, which, to put it mildly, does not really depend on Argentina) and truly controversial moments (such as Messi not being sent off for a clear foul in the first match of the World Cup). The petition has already been signed by more than 7.5 million people – well, of course, if the site creators keep their accounts honestly Not like Argentina.
Picture of the day. Thousands of Norwegians welcome the national team after their return from the World Cup. The Norwegian team, led by Erling Haaland, showed the best result in its history by reaching the quarter-finals.
Next in the program. Tomorrow Argentina – England. Perhaps the most fundamental and contradictory confrontation in the history of the World Championship: “Hand of God”, Beckham’s elimination, that’s it (a separate historical review of Medusa will be published before the match). Starts at 22:00 Moscow time.
