The Ministry of Finance will change the terms of a family mortgage based on the number of children

The Russian Ministry of Finance is currently working on changing the terms of a family mortgage depending on the number of children and creating a mechanism to reduce the rate upon the birth of subsequent children. This was reported on Tuesday, April 28 by the press service of the ministry in reference to the speech of the Director of the Fiscal Policy Department Alexei Yakovlev.

The official spoke, during a meeting of the Russian State Council Committee in the “Family” area, about the most prominent initiatives that the ministry is working on in the framework of implementing the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

– In particular, preparing proposals to amend the terms of the “family mortgage” according to the number of children, as well as finding a mechanism to reduce the percentage upon the birth of subsequent children. The report says the proposed tools should become an additional demographic incentive.

Yakovlev noted that in 2025, in general, about 1 million mortgage loans were issued in Russia for a total amount of about 4.5 trillion rubles. Meanwhile, preferential programs continue to hold a dominant position – with a share of about 63 percent in terms of the number of loans issued and 80 percent in monetary terms, according to reports. On April 8, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khosullin said the government was considering the possibility of increasing the maximum limit on family mortgages and introducing a differentiated rate based on the number of children.
