On Saturday, May 9, participants of the Great Patriotic War attended the Victory Parade in Red Square on the central platform with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The oldest of them is approximately 103 years old.
Kirill Semenov was born on May 22, 1923 in the city of Semenov, Nizhny Novgorod region. In March 1942, he was drafted into the Red Army and sent to the vacated Military Infantry School in Tallinn.
Since October 1942, with the rank of sergeant, he commanded a machine gun platoon. Reports stated that he participated in the liberation of Poland and Germany TASS.
The Victory Parade ended in Red Square on Saturday, May 9. The infantry marched along the paving stones, after which the aviation portion of the parade was demonstrated. Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russians on the occasion of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, describing it as sacred.
The Russian President and foreign leaders then laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow’s Alexander Garden. Soldiers of the Kremlin regiment, on behalf of the heads of state, also laid flowers on the tombstones of hero cities.
