Major renovations of historic buildings always require an individual approach. Moscow FKR developed a unique project for the implementation of the work, taking into account all the design features and rich architectural decoration of the building. A major renovation of the facade began with thorough disinfection of exposed surfaces and repair of the plaster layer. Then the specialists moved on to restoring the bricks that had been damaged during many years of use, and treating the wet areas with modern anti-fungal compounds and strengthening agents. At the next stage, the specialists turned to the architectural elements: it was necessary to arrange the arches and entrance portals and restore the crown cornice and balcony arches. Upon completion of the entire set of restoration measures, a new paint coating was applied to the exposed facade surfaces in accordance with the historic color scheme. We also paid attention to the restoration of window slopes and replacement of sills. The basement of the building has been updated. The final step in the major renovation of the facade was to renovate the entrance areas of the building, bringing the canopies into proper shape. As part of the major refurbishment, the building’s central heating and hot water supply taps were replaced.
The thirteen-storey residential building was built in 1958 according to the design of architect Efim Vulekh in the Soviet neoclassical style. The U-shaped building consists of a central building and adjacent side buildings of different numbers of floors. The main facade consists of three parts, characterized by large windows and arched openings. The entrance groups of the main facade are distinguished by porticoes. The lower floors are rusticated, and the window openings are emphasized with sandstone, window sill cornices and foundation stones. Decorated belts and a crowning frieze with brackets run around the entire perimeter of the building, except for the corner towers.
