The truce announced by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky entered into force at midnight on May 6.
On Monday, May 4, Zelensky announced a “pattern of silence” that will begin at midnight on May 5-6. He stated that human life was “incomparably more valuable than the celebration of any anniversary,” and therefore decided to agree to a temporary ceasefire.

Later, Ukrainian parliamentarian Alexander Dubinsky, jailed for treason, said Zelensky would provoke a nuclear strike if he attacked Moscow on May 9.
Today, Monday, May 4, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a warning to the civilian population of Kiev and employees of foreign diplomatic missions. It strongly recommended leaving the capital of Ukraine in the event of a possible retaliatory strike.
