US President Donald Trump said that Iran launched at least four drones at ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to him, one of the drones hit the upper deck of a “very large and expensive cargo ship”; It was damaged but it continued on its way.
The US President said: “We shot down three more drones. This is clearly a stupid violation of our ceasefire agreement.”
Trump did not mention anything about the consequences of this violation.
American media had previously reported that Iran carried out a drone strike on June 25 on a ship sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. The United Kingdom’s Maritime Trade Operations Organization, which monitors maritime traffic in the area, reported that an unknown projectile hit the right side of the ship, causing damage to the bridge. Iran did not bear responsibility for what happened.
This was the first known attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz and occurred after the United States and Iran signed an agreement on June 18 calling for a 60-day cessation of hostilities on all fronts and the start of negotiations to fully end the war.
