United Russia has identified the list leaders with whom it will go to the Duma elections in September 2026, its president Dmitry Medvedev announced at the party congress in Moscow.
The top five places on the federal list included:
- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
- Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin
- Children’s Ombudsman Maria Lvova Belova
- “Military correspondent” Yevgeny Poddubny
- Head of the Leonarmiya Headquarters Vladislav Golovin
A propaganda poster showing Putin at the party congress was also presented. This is the first time since 2007 that United Russia has declared itself the president’s party. The slogan on the poster reads: “Being for Putin is the basic minimum.”
Putin himself participated in the conference and gave a short speech in which he stated that Russia could not be defeated on the battlefield and called the participants in the war “the real elite.”
Elections for deputies to the State Duma at its ninth session will be held from September 18 to 20. Meduza sources said that the security forces want to convince Putin to postpone the elections due to the fact that the authorities are losing control of the situation in the country. Putin said at the conference that the elections “will be held on time and in strict accordance with the law, and all necessary measures will be taken for their safety.”
