Ceasing hostilities and freezing the front lines in current positions could be the quickest way to achieve peace with Russia. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky spoke about this on Sunday, June 7
Answering a question in an interview with a British channel Sky News Regarding the possibility of a ceasefire on the current contact line, he said: “Yes. This is the fastest way.”
At the same time, the Ukrainian leader noted that such a scenario does not mean recognition or transfer of the territories under his control to the Russian Federation. Zelensky added that such a freeze would save people’s lives, bring back military personnel from the front lines and move the conflict to a diplomatic channel.
On the same day, it was reported that Vladimir Zelensky arrived at Downing Street about an hour after the start of negotiations between the leaders of Britain, France and Germany. Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived at the residence of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss possible negotiations with the Russian Federation.
Macron and Merz left the negotiations on Ukraine at Starmer’s residence, after which Zelensky and the British Prime Minister remained alone in Downing Street.
