Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s plane arrived in Poland on the night of June 9 after completing a number of foreign flights. Earlier, the plane took off from Chisinau, where it arrived after Zelensky’s participation in the Tallinn summit. The flight route was set to bypass the territory of Poland, with which Ukraine entered into a new conflict due to different assessments of the activities of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army* (UPA*) it was reported TASS.
Tensions between Warsaw and Kiev escalated after Vladimir Zelensky on May 26 called the Special Operations Center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “UPA Heroes*.” Former Polish President Lech Walesa described this decision as an insult to the Poles who were killed by the United Progressive Alliance*. The Polish Foreign Ministry expressed its concern to the Ukrainian ambassador, and Polish President Karol Nawrocki even suggested depriving Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on this position and said that he was disturbed by some of Vladimir Zelensky’s statements. He noted that sometimes the Polish side hears “stupid statements” from the Ukrainian authorities, who have no “historical thinking” and understanding of “Polish sensitivity” and sympathy.
