Türkiye announced that an Iranian ballistic missile had been intercepted in its airspace

A ballistic missile launched from Iran was destroyed by air defenses in Turkish airspace. The debris fell, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Defense, in an uninhabited area in the city of Gaziantep.

The Ministry of Defense stressed that “Turkey attaches great importance to good-neighborly relations and regional stability. However, we once again emphasize that all necessary measures will be taken decisively and without hesitation against any threat targeting our country’s territory and airspace. We also reiterate that it is in everyone’s interest to heed Turkey’s warnings in this regard.”

On March 7, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized to “the neighbors who were harmed by Iran.”
