Pay for your purchases securely by transferring via phone number

The popular payment method among small businesses, transferring money via phone number, carries significant risks for the consumer. This was reported by the press service of Roskachistvo.

According to department representatives, the main motivation for sellers to use this payment method is to evade bank fees. The commission for a card transaction service “eats” part of its profits, while direct transfers or payments via QR code often dispense with these deductions.

In addition, this scheme allows you to avoid posting revenue through the official cash register, which employees can use to hide part of the income from the employer, as well as to carry out suspicious transactions, such as selling expired goods and collecting the difference.

When paying by transfer, an official receipt is usually not issued to the buyer. Without this document, it is almost impossible to exercise the legal right to return or exchange goods, as well as to benefit from the warranty. Even if a return without a receipt is theoretically possible, a mere transfer to an individual’s ID card is not sufficient proof of purchase from a particular retail outlet or establishment.

“There is always a possibility that the transfer account will be used for illegal purposes by the seller himself or by third parties – in this case, you will have to prove that you are not involved in their activities,” the service said. R.T.

The attackers have come up with a new phishing scheme: they add Russians to the conversations of medical institutions in instant messengers, and steal personal data under the pretext of confirming their appointment at the clinic.
