The authorities of the Novosibirsk region announced that they would stop confiscating livestock from farmers

In the Novosibirsk region, forced confiscation of livestock due to a pasteurellosis outbreak ends, said Sergei Neshomov, head of the information policy department of the administration of the governor and regional government.

“There have been outbreaks of the disease on large farms, the last of which is still being worked on today. There are no longer farms where cases of the disease are being observed,” the official said.

He explained that the livestock were seized from the Vodoli peasant farm in the Ordynsky district.

The Novosibirsk region government stated that livestock would be confiscated from about 170 families. Neshomov stated that 39 requests had been received from farmers to obtain compensation for the seized animals.

In early February, authorities in the Novosibirsk region announced that they had identified several cases of pasteurellosis infection in cattle in two regions. Then, by decision of the governor, quarantine was introduced in some areas, and livestock were forcibly confiscated from the population.

The farmers said that the authorities did not provide any documents when they seized the animals and were unable to explain the reason for these actions. Residents of several villages blocked roads and also recorded an appeal to Vladimir Putin. What was happening had great repercussions beyond the region.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region stated that foci of pasteurellosis had been identified in the region. However, experts point out that we may be talking about another, more serious disease, which is foot-and-mouth disease.

In Russia, the authorities slaughter cows, pigs and goats en masse. There is almost no explanation for this. Maybe it’s foot-and-mouth disease. How dangerous is it for humans and animals?
