The former head of Otkritie Bank, Mikhail Zadornov, achieved the lifting of US sanctions

The United States has lifted sanctions on the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Otkryti Bank and former Russian Finance Minister Mikhail Zadornov, according to the website of the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Mikhail Zadornov has been chairing the Board of Directors of Otkryti Bank since 2018. In April 2022, sanctions were imposed on him, and on January 1, 2023 he left his position as head of the bank.

In August 2024, Zadornov appealed the sanctions to the US District Court for the District of Columbia. In a lawsuit against the US State Department and its then-president Anthony Blinken, Zadornov indicated that he no longer holds positions in the Russian financial sector, is not linked to the Russian authorities and does not influence their policies.
