The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria has been declared a “terrorist organization” in Russia, and its activities in the country are banned.
The corresponding decision was made by the Sheikh-Mansurovsky District Court in Grozny, and the report of Russian state agencies, including TASS, citing the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Russian Federal Security Service.
The activities of “29 of its divisions in 14 European countries” were also banned in the Russian Federation by a court decision.
The Central Election Commission of the Federal Security Service reported that members of the “Chechen Republic of Ichkeria” are fighting Russia on the side of Ukraine. In particular, the Russian special service said in a statement that they participated in “sabotage and terrorist acts” in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, as well as “in the killing of Russian military personnel and civilians.”
In June 2024, the Russian Supreme Court declared the government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in exile an “extremist” and in November 2024 a “terrorist organization.”
The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria is a self-proclaimed republic independent of Russia that existed on the territory of Chechnya from 1993 to 1999. It was liquidated during the Second Chechen War. As a result, the presidency of Chechnya was assumed by Akhmad Kadyrov, the father of the current president of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov.
