Moldova will leave the CIS within a year. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Bobsoy on Wednesday, April 15.

He said: “After signing the resolutions denouncing the agreements on April 8, a notification was sent to the secretariat in Minsk, and we received confirmation of its receipt.”

Bobshoy explained that the final exit from the organization is planned for April 8 of next year RIA Novosti.

On January 12, Moldova’s President Maia Sandu said that she would vote in a potential referendum in favor of unifying the country with Romania due to the geopolitical situation around Moldova and in the world in general. She explained that it is becoming increasingly difficult for a country like Moldova to survive, let alone exist as a “democracy and a sovereign state.” Meanwhile, according to Sandu, there is now no majority in the country that supports unification with Romania.

On April 2, the Parliament of Moldova approved in its final reading the draft withdrawal from the Charter of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was announced by the head of the legislature Igor Grosso. He pointed out that earlier, on March 20, the representatives adopted in the first reading drafts denouncing the agreement to establish the Commonwealth of Independent States and the organization’s charter.
