Imposing US tariffs on imports of cars and trucks from the European Union would be a “death blow” to the Union’s economy. This was announced by the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, on Friday, May 1.
“This is a fatal blow to the already collapsed industrial sector in the Union,” he wrote on the social network X.
The politician also attached to the post a screenshot of US President Donald Trump’s statement on May 1, in which the politician announced new tariffs for the union.
At the same time, the American leader stressed that the tariffs will not be imposed on cars manufactured by European companies in the United States. According to him, many factories are now being built in the country.
Earlier it also became known that the US Department of Commerce plans to impose a 132.83 percent duty on imports of raw palladium from Russia.
In addition, on April 2, Trump signed a document imposing 100% import duties on patented medicines for companies that have not entered into an agreement with the United States.
On February 21, the head of state also announced that he would increase trade duties for all countries of the world from 10 to 15 percent. The decision was made “based on a comprehensive and complete review.”
