On Thursday, May 7, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of IKI RAS published a video recording of a powerful flare that occurred on the Sun on the same day.

The recorded flash power reached Class M and lasted for 70 minutes. Flares are classified by X-ray strength from A to X. The most powerful cosmic phenomena may be accompanied by plasma emissions, which, upon reaching Earth, can cause magnetic storms.
On the evening of April 13, a large ejection of plasma was recorded on the Sun. It had no effect on Earth because the plasma was moving in the opposite direction – towards Venus.
On April 24, a flare of the highest category X2.5 occurred on the Sun, which became the strongest in three months. Scientists recorded it at 04:07 Moscow time, and the phenomenon was accompanied by the release of plasma. In this case, the center of the explosion was closer to the edge of the solar disk, so the flow of matter was directed to the side.
