The visits of the Presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, to China, which took place several days apart, were ostensibly organized according to a similar scenario. However, one small detail showed who Beijing favors. The British newspaper The Guardian wrote about this on Wednesday, May 20.
The leaders’ reception ceremony at the airport looked almost identical: a military band, an honor guard, and groups of young people carrying flags. Only the composition of the welcoming delegation differed.
Trump received the Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, whose position, as we mentioned, is primarily ceremonial. Putin was received at the airport by an influential member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party. The newspaper considered this a hidden indication that China considers Moscow an important partner message.
Putin and Xi Jinping conducted extensive negotiations. The Chinese politician said that Russia and China should continue to support each other on issues affecting the main interests of both sides. The main statements of the leaders are in the material “Moscow Evening”.
After completing the formal negotiations, Putin and Xi met informally to discuss a wide range of current international issues over a cup of tea.
