US President Donald Trump called for several changes to the draft peace agreement between Washington and Tehran, Axios reported, citing sources.
According to US officials, Trump wants to see specific concessions from Iran regarding its nuclear program in the agreement. In the current situation, the agreement only includes Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons. Trump wants to clarify in the agreement clearer terms and conditions, under which the United States will obtain already enriched Iranian uranium.
One of the newspaper’s interviewers said that Trump also wants to change some of the words related to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The US official said, “There will be an agreement. We will see when that happens. We are prepared to wait until the president gets what he asks for. This may take a week. Maybe less. Maybe more. We hope we will get something by the end of the week.”
