Russia’s fuel crisis continues to expand. Restrictions on the sale of gasoline have been imposed in at least 20 regions. Here is their list

Fuel crisis unfolds in Russia. Ukrainian drones continue to strike refineries in different regions of Russia. Because of the attacks, oil refineries are forced to suspend or reduce production. Fuel shortages have begun at gas stations in different parts of the country. At the same time, the authorities often claim that the cause of gasoline queues is “excess demand” and not a real fuel shortage.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak informed the President of the Russian Federation that the situation on the fuel market is under control. At the same time, Novak admitted that there are still “objective logistical problems that arise from time to time in certain regions and at individual gas stations.” Based on official reports, Novak did not talk about the fact that refineries are producing less gasoline due to Ukrainian drone strikes. In contrast to Deputy Prime Minister, Igor Sechin, head of Rosneft, who prepared his list of measures to combat the fuel crisis, reported in a letter to Putin about an “unprecedented amount of damage” to Russian refineries as a result of drone strikes.

So far, the measures the authorities are trying to take have not yielded any tangible results. Every day in different parts of Russia they restrict the sale of fuel. In some places, only bottled gasoline is currently prohibited from being sold; In other cases, the number of liters of fuel per car is limited. In some regions, authorities say that it is not them who are imposing the restrictions, but rather networks of gas stations (for example, in Moscow and St. Petersburg).

Below is a list of areas where official restrictions came into effect as of midday on 24 June. It does not include areas whose residents complain of fuel shortages, but the authorities have not (yet) officially announced the restrictions.
