According to eyewitnesses, seven or eight loud noises were heard around two in the morning. Residents heard “a series of faint explosions coming from the sea” and saw flashes in the sky. On May 12, it became known that in the period from 09:00 to 17:00, Russian air defense systems shot down 40 UAVs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the territory of Belgorod, Bryansk, Samara, Kursk, Orenburg and Republic of Crimea regions. In addition, on the night of May 11-12, in the skies of Belgorod, Voronezh and Rostov regions, local forces destroyed 27 Ukrainian drones.
