People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Bezrukov, after becoming artistic director of the Gorky Moscow Art Theater, said that now the theater does not have a large stage. He said this is a result of ongoing reforms.
— The huge theater building has been in a constant state of renovation for a long time, everyone knows that, but I still did not expect that the main thing would be missing – the stage. That is, the theater does not actually have a large stage. “There is only a box without any engineering equipment, without a fire safety system,” Bezrukov emphasized.
The artist added that he will do everything in his power so that the Moscow Art Theater troupe actually performs on stage in the next theatrical season. He noted that there is nothing worse than “creative pause.”
Earlier, Sergei Bezrukov said that after his appointment to the position of artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater, he does not rule out his cooperation and even friendship with the Moscow Provincial Theater.
On March 7, the artist announced that he decided to suspend teaching and not start a new acting course at VGIK this year. He noted that he now needs more energy to immerse himself in working with a new creative team.
