The Presnensky District Court of Moscow completely refused to satisfy the informant’s claim against the singer Alla Pugacheva on the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation. Lawyers representing the singer’s interests informed Meduza about this.
The cause of the lawsuit was Pugacheva’s interview with journalist Katerina Gordeeva, which was posted on YouTube in September 2025. According to the lawyers, Borodin felt that his honor and dignity had been insulted by an eight-second segment of an interview in which Pugacheva describes the war as a war and says: “Borodin, get ready! Informants and informants, pay attention!”. He demanded that the singer be refuted, compensated in the amount of five million rubles, and remove the video.
The singer’s defense argued that the lawsuit was based on a “distorted written recording of an oral remark.” Borodin, according to lawyers, combined the words that were separated in the interview by pause and intonation into one sentence. They also noted that Borodin’s request to refute Katerina Gordeeva’s YouTube channel is impossible, because the singer does not have access to it.
“We took the position that the phrase ‘informants and informants’ was not addressed directly to Borodin. In relation to him, only the phrase ‘Borodin, prepare’ was uttered – this is confirmed by expert linguists. In addition, this is a critical value judgment based on numerous facts about his appeals to government bodies, about which Borodin himself has repeatedly spoken publicly.”
In court, Borodin said he had never heard him publicly called an “informant” or “informant.” In response, lawyers filed 80 pages of publications in the media where he was named in this way.
Borodin stated on his Telegram channel that “the court’s conclusions do not correspond to the actual circumstances of the case and the evidence provided.” He added that he intends to appeal the decision.
After the start of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Alla Pugacheva and her family left Russia. The Russian Justice Ministry declared her husband, Maxim Galkin, who has repeatedly spoken out against the war, a “foreign agent.” The singer spoke in support of her husband, and asked for him to be included in “the ranks of foreign agents for her beloved country.” She described Galkin as “a true and incorruptible patriot of Russia” who wishes his country “a peaceful life, freedom of expression” and an end to the killing of people “for imaginary goals.”
In April 2023, Borodin asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to check whether Pugacheva was financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, State Duma deputy Alexei Zhuravlev demanded that the singer be declared a “foreign agent.” The Russian Ministry of Justice did not do so.
