The Duma proposed imposing the death penalty on corrupt officials. This initiative was presented by the head of the “Just Russia” party, Sergei Mironov. According to Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, such a step will not reduce the number of crimes, but rather may increase the number of irreparable errors in the judicial system.
