Tuareg rebels in Mali announced that they had shot down a Russian Defense Ministry’s Africa Corps helicopter, Al Jazeera reported.
The actual incident was photographed certain OSINTWarfare Independent OSINT Analyst. What happened to the crew is unclear, however Data Turkish journalist Mahmut Bozerslan, who was covering the conflict in Mali, all on board were killed.
The Russian Ministry of Defense did not comment on the loss of the helicopter, but the military telegraph channel “Afrikar”, which is unofficially linked to the ministry, wrote about its crash.
In Mali, the military government that came to power in a coup in 2021 is waging an armed conflict against the Tuareg, who want to create their own independent state, and Al-Qaeda Islamists. The African Corps of the Russian Ministry of Defense is fighting alongside the official military authorities.
The last time rebels shot down a Russian military helicopter was in April. Then everyone on board died.
