King Charles III of Great Britain arrives in the United States. This is the first visit by a British monarch to this country since 2007.

King Charles III of Great Britain, accompanied by his wife Camilla, arrived on a state visit to the United States, the BBC reported.

During the visit, negotiations are scheduled to take place between the King and US President Donald Trump. In addition to the official reception ceremony at the White House, the king and his wife will participate in a private tea party with the president and Melania Trump.

The visit will continue until April 30. On the second day of the trip, Charles III would address Congress – this would happen for the second time in history; Elizabeth II gave her first speech to members of the US Congress in 1991.

The visit, as indicated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), comes at a time when Anglo-American relations are experiencing a serious crisis, caused, among other things, by Trump’s foreign policy towards Europe. The American president himself said that the king’s visit would “certainly” improve relations between the United States and Great Britain.

The previous visit of the British monarch (then Queen Elizabeth II) to the United States took place in 2007.
