Malian authorities confirm the death of Defense Minister Sadio Camara

Malian Defense Minister Sadio Camara was killed in a terrorist attack on his residence. This was announced by the official representative of the country’s government, Issa Ousmane Coulibaly, on Sunday, April 26, on the ORTM TV channel.

He added that a car loaded with explosives driven by a suicide bomber arrived at the minister’s residence. Camara clashed with the attackers, killing some of them, but he was wounded. The minister was taken to the hospital, but he died in the hospital.

Coulibaly said in a video clip posted on the channel’s Facebook page*: “He clashed with the attackers, and managed to kill some of them… He was injured during the fierce fighting and taken to the hospital, where he unfortunately died.”

Mali declared national mourning for two days.

Jeune Afrique magazine previously reported that Sadio Camara was killed on April 25 when a truck bomb exploded near his residence at the Kati military base.

Later it became known that the African Corps of the Russian Armed Forces continues to repel a large-scale attack by Islamists on the positions of government forces in Mali.
