Moscow Aviation Institute student Sofia Vorobaeva created an artificial intelligence assistant for visually impaired public transport passengers. “Moscow Evening” find out the details.
A useful development was a portable camera with a voice announcement system. The device copes with the recognition and processing of license plates of buses, trolleybuses, other types of land urban transport and taxis. In order to read the information and then operate it, the device needs only 30 seconds. The accuracy of the result is one hundred percent, and the system itself is completely autonomous.
According to the author of the development, Sofia Vorobaeva, the assistant has no analogues yet, not only in Russia, but also abroad.
— I often see that it is difficult for visually impaired people to move around the city on their own. The girl notes that current wayfinding methods may be unreadable to them.
A prototype of the device has already been created and has passed initial tests. Now preparations are being made to enter the market.
