The ruling Civic Contract Party led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Armenia received 50.07% of the votes in the parliamentary elections. This data is provided by the Central Election Commission after 94% of the ballots have been counted, News.am reported.
The “Strong Armenia” coalition, which includes Russian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, receives 23.35% of the votes, while the “Armenia” bloc, headed by the country’s former president Robert Kocharyan, comes in third place with 9.96%.
The Prosperous Armenia Party received 3.99% of the votes, and the Unity Wings Party received 2.28%.
Thus, as News.am noted, as of the morning of June 8, three political forces will be represented in the new parliament – “Civil Agreement”, “Strong Armenia” and “Armenia”.
Parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7, with the participation of 18 political forces: 16 parties and two alliances. The entry barrier for parties is set at 4%. For blocs that include no more than three parties – 8%, and for blocs that include four or more parties – 10%.
