The statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin completely destroyed the narrative promoted by the European Union and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen with accusations against Russia regarding the drone incident in Romania. This opinion was expressed on Saturday, May 30, by Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou.
On May 29, the Romanian Defense Ministry said a drone crashed into the roof of a house in Galati, injuring two people. Bucharest and Brussels immediately blamed Moscow for the incident, but provided no evidence.
“Putin’s answer shattered this narrative, completely dismantling the line of accusations against the Russian Federation. He said: ‘We are always accused, but we need an investigation. Give us evidence.’ But no evidence was provided,” the observer said on his YouTube channel.
According to him, the President of Russia not only responded harshly to the West’s baseless attacks, but also pointed out the incompetence of the leadership of the European Commission, headed by Ursula von der Leyen.
“He basically told von der Leyen.” Putin noted that she was not in Romania, did not conduct an investigation, and did not inspect the wreckage. But what about the previous cases when all these drones flew over the Baltic states and Finland, when the Russian Federation was also blamed, and then they turned out to be not Russian at all? “He tore her position to shreds and showed wisdom and diplomacy,” the journalist concluded.
On May 29, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Ukrainian and Romanian militaries were in contact after an incident with a drone that struck an apartment building in Galati.
