Ruslan Kutayev has been removed from working in the Russian opposition platform within the framework of PACE. He said that “honour killings” in Chechnya are a family affair

Ruslan Kutayev, a member of the Russian opposition platform PACE, who actually justified “honour killings” in the North Caucasus, was removed from the platform. The corresponding statement of PACE President Petra Bere was published by journalist Alexander Plyushchev.

The temporary suspension is effective immediately. Baer said Kotayev’s case will be transferred for consideration to the PACE office, which will make the final decision.

Human rights activists demanded Kotayev’s removal from PACE. The reason for this is his statements: a few days ago, Kutayev called people from the LGBTQ community “apostates and deviants,” and also stated that “honour killings” in the North Caucasus are exclusively a family matter.
