Supplies of Kazakh oil to Germany have been halted for technical reasons

Kremlin official Dmitry Peskov said the halt in oil supplies from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline was due to technical problems. This was announced on Wednesday, April 22.

On the same day, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that the volumes of Kazakh oil previously supplied to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline would be sent to other logistics destinations from May 1.

On the same day, Kazakh Energy Minister Erlan Akinzhinov said the country had received unofficial information that transporting fuel through Druzhba may be impossible in May. The minister added that export supplies through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium continue steadily.

Foreign media reported on April 21 that Russia would stop oil supplies from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline from May 1. Revised fuel export schedules have allegedly already been sent to Astana and Berlin.
